Companies are Living Systems

Leonardo 3.4.5 regards companies as living systems that are controlled by mechanisms known from nature. Leonardo 3.4.5 makes team members familiar with these mechanisms and enables them to apply them effectively to their working routines.

Organisations and their Functionalities

J. G. Miller's typology of functionalities was applied to Leonardo 3.4.5 to tailor the critical enterprise and team functions to a set of eight key characteristics. Every individual in a team contributes to at least two of those functions in a group. This approach has proven to be essential for teams to function efficiently and as a basis for the implementation of the "team based learning organization", in which teams funtion like organs in living systems.

The following illustration shows the different company functionalities and levels of reality according to Leonardo 3.4.5.

An organisation/team has to be aware of the fact that all functionalities are relevant and important for its survival, well-being and productivity. Tasks, that cannot be fulfilled by one team member, have to be delegated to colleagues.
